Burning Ice
Burning Ice was developed during my recent two-month residency in rural Iceland, and focuses on connections between mountaintop removal practices and melting glacial ice. This body of work examines the changing societal attitudes about land and its uses. Using satellite imagery as my source material, I meticulously rendered views of endangered geographies in graphite on paper. Combining various media, I also published a print-on-demand book, making the work available to a wider audience and binding the piece to concepts of speed and consumption.
